This Arthur Hills-designed links-style championship course makes every second shot to the small, elevated greens a test of skill. This course is popular with both beginners and more experienced golfers, and offers tees ranging from 3,812 to 6,675 yards. Located on the far east side of Columbus, in Pickerington, Ohio, and adjacent to Blacklick Creek, the course features high fescue grasses, several lakes and numerous bunkers outline the all-bentgrass tees, fairways, and greens. The course offers a number of events, leagues and lessons throughout the year. You can easily find Turnberry Golf Course just off the State Route 256/Pickerington exit from Interstate 70.

The Library began offering services to the area from a small room inside the Violet Township High School in 1907. The library eventually opened at its current location in 1993, with additional space for materials, a computer lab, meeting room space, private study rooms were added in 2005.

Pickerington Schools is home to two high schools, two junior high schools, three middle schools, seven elementary schools, a preschool, and an alternative school. The district is the 15th largest in Ohio, with nearly 10,600 students enrolled in classes each year (as of 2018). A majority of local residents approve of the job classroom teachers are doing to educate students, and perceive the quality of education being offered as excellent or good in the district.

The Pickerington Police Department is a 24/7 operation staffed by approximately 30 sworn personnel, 10 civilian dispatchers/records technicians, and 1 administrative assistant. The department is responsible for all police activities within the city limits and is comprised of the patrol bureau and detective bureau. The department believes in its philosophies of grass roots policing and strives to be proactive rather than reactive. It is for this, and other reasons, that the community continues to strongly support its police department.

The Violet Township Fire Department provides professional emergency medical and fire service using a combination of full time, paid part time, and volunteer firefighters. The fire department currently staffs three fire stations 24-hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year. ALL of our equipment is capable of providing Advanced Life Support to deal with any crisis or emergency. The Violet Township Fire Department responds to more than 5,000 fire and emergency medical calls each year. Their service area is approximately 41 square miles, serving a population of more than 39,000 residents. We participate in Mutual Aid contracts with all surrounding fire departments, and service the City of Pickerington, and portions of Canal Winchester and the City of Reynoldsburg.

With more than 350 members, Pickerington Chamber is the oldest and most highly regarded business advocacy organization in the Pickerington area. The organization works with local business, professionals, government officials, and the larger community to allow businesses to prosper, and to enhance the quality of life for all Pickerington-area residents.

R.G. Barry Corporation is a developer and marketer of footwear, handbags, and foot care products, and is based in Pickerington Ohio. It was founded in 1947 in Columbus, Ohio, and is widely known for its Dearfoams brand of foam insole slippers, Baggallini, and Foot Petals brands. In 2001, the company landed contracts with Papa John’s International and Donatos Pizza to supply heat pizza delivery systems to the pizza chains.

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame collects, records, preserves and honors the people and events that compose the rich history of motorcycling in America. Located just off Interstate 70 in Pickerington, Ohio, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is an offshoot of the American Motorcyclist Association, recognizing individuals who have contributed to motorcycle sport, motorcycle construction, or motorcycling in general. It also displays motorcycles, riding gear, and memorabilia in the museum. It’s a small museum with exhibits on motorcycling heroes and the sport’s evolution, plus displays of iconic bikes.

Recently acquired by the Violet Township trustees, the Wigwam is a 63-acre historic retreat. The complex houses the Violet Township Administrative Offices, a 303-seat theater and 500-seat banquet hall that can be configured for a variety of events. Originally constructed as a retreat for the Wolfe family, founders of the Columbus Dispatch and other media outlets in the Columbus, Ohio area. The property is used for community space. The amenities, like the theater and banquet hall, are available to rent for meetings, dance recitals, weddings and other events.
