Even though it’s been in the 80’s and 90’s for most of August, the big temperature drop is coming. The first cool, crisp days and nights of autumn will be waxing poetic into our lives within the next six to eight weeks. Before that lovely autumn bliss transitions into the bleary, bleak, frigid days of winter, consider these reasons why it might be time to upgrade to a new heating and cooling system.
1. The Little Engine That Could
If your system is working overtime to just keep up with cooling your home in the waning days of mediocre late summer temperatures, and it just feels like that little red locomotive that just KNEW it could get up that hill (albeit with a great deal of huffing and puffing), it might be time to consider replacement. An overworked HVAC system is getting reading the check out. Consider a new system, soon. Very soon.
2. The Era of the iPhone
If your furnace and air conditioning was installed when flip phones still roamed the earth, before the true genius of Steve Jobs was really revealed, it might be time to consider replacing your system. HVAC equipment is designed to work efficiently for 10-15 years. Sure, you can push it longer, but it might burn a hole in your pocket to pay the energy man in the meantime (see below). It’s been 13-1/2 YEARS since Mr. Jobs so boldly announced that incredible new device at the Macworld show in San Fran, long before we all became addicted to Candy Crush. Time to join the new millennium with a new HVAC system!
3. Your Energy Bills are Higher than Your Cable Bills
Haven’t “pulled the plug” on cable yet? We all know that dreaded feeling, the feeling of scraping together the cash each month to pay that exponentially-increasing cable bill. (Guess what? Your promo period ended two years ago!) If your gas and electric invoices are keeping right up with the robber barons at the cable company, it might be time to redirect some of that hard-earned cash into a new HVAC system. Newer systems run much more efficiently, and the savings add up quickly.
4. HVAC System is Working Overtime
It’s a little early in the season to talk cold temperatures, but did you get complaints from the family last heating season about it just being too chilly in the house? Or the air just couldn’t keep up with these mediocre-warm summer days (hey, we used to get 100-degree plus days in Ohio). Say sayonara to the old, inefficient furnace and AC. It’s been a good run, but it’s just… time.
5. Your System is Noisier Than a Led Zeppelin Concert in the 70’s
We’re talking REAL rock-n-roll, man (the reason all us older folks suffer from tinnitus). Over-amped electric guitars and screaming fans. That was fun. But now, the volume control on your smart TV can’t go high enough for you to hear Andy’s courtroom dialog on Matlock reruns. Some of those noises indicate imminent failure. You may not have a choice on whether or not to replace your HVAC equipment soon, the spectre of death for your furnace and air conditioner might already be at the door.
6. You’re on a First-Name Basis with Our HVAC Service Technicians
If our guys have been paying you frequent visits (more than twice a year, that is) and you know the names of all of their children, whom their favorite NFL team is, and where they went to grade school, bravo. Thanks for being such a cordial customer and engaging our guys in polite conversation. We would prefer a less, shall we say… intimate relationship with our customers. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE each and every one of the customers we’ve service for the past 57 years… but c’mon man. Invite him back for a beer on Sunday afternoons (when he’s not working his on-call weekend), but get that HVAC system replaced.
An Investment That Pays for Itself
What’s more important, pinching a few pennies, or saving the environment and keeping your family comfortable year round?
You can save yourself a bundle in energy bills, recurring HVAC repair bills, and potential divorce lawyer bills (just kidding) by investing in a modern, efficient heating and cooling system. We have financing available if you don’t want to put it on a credit card or dig up that cash in the back yard, so pick up the phone and schedule Greg to come out and give you an estimate for a new system, sooner than later.
