Dor-Mar Heating and Air Conditioning AC Repair Services include central air conditioning repairs, heat pump repairs, and A/C system repairs.
A/C System Refrigerant/Coolant Repairs
One of the most common problems we see on our customers’ air conditioning systems is a refrigerant leak. All modern air conditioners use a form of coolant to perform its work, whether it’s the now-phased-out Freon/R-22 refrigerant, or its replacement Puron/R-410a.
Refrigerants are unique liquids that convert to a gas in pressurized, closed system air conditioners, releases cold as it passes through your A/C system, then absorbs heat and converts back into a liquid, only to repeat that process over and over. Because the refrigerant is under pressure, and the system contains many plumbing-style connections, the coolant can sometimes develop a leak over time.
Our A/C repair technicians use the most advanced industry practices and equipment to locate refrigerant leaks quickly, and repair the AC system. Even a small, seemingly insignificant refrigerant leak can cause energy loss, as well as reduce efficiency of the A/C system, sometimes to the point where it doesn’t do its job at all.
In addition, the leak of R-22 from older air conditioners poses a threat to the environment, so leaks should be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Dor-Mar Heating and Air Conditioning AC Service Technicians are highly-trained and EPA-certified to handle even the most complex coolant leaks.
Heat Pump Repairs
A Heat Pump is a system that resembles a traditional air conditioner, and even works in a similar fashion. During the warmer outside temperatures of the summer, a heat pump extracts cool air from warm air and transfers it to the inside of your home, lowering the indoor temperature. During the winter months, a heat pump has the ability to extract heat from cold air to provide heat to your home. Unfortunately, Ohio winters tend to be too cold to heat a home with just a heat pump, so they are often installed in conjunction with electric furnaces, as a supplement, and can provide an energy-efficient boost. Our expertise fully extends to heat pump and electric furnace systems. If it seems your heat pump isn’t cooling your home properly, contact our friendly, helpful customer service representatives to schedule a service call to check it out.
A/C Compressor Repairs
The “heart” of a central air conditioning system is the compressor, which pumps refrigerant from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit, providing cool relief to the people inside your home.
If the compressor isn’t doing its job properly, the air conditioning system simply won’t cool your home. Compressors contain many mechanical parts and electrical connections and require a trained AC service technician to diagnose and repair them properly. And, since many compressor repairs require proper handling of the compressed refrigerant inside the system, a AC Repair technician must be EPA-certified. At Dor-Mar Heating and Air Conditioning, all of our AC Service techs hold EPA certification and thorough training to deal with compressor issues.
Common Air Conditioning Repairs
Your home’s air conditioning system contains many moving parts, electronic and mechanical components, leaving the door open for a multitude of problems. Our certified, highly-trained AC Service technicians see several problems more frequently, indicating that certain sections of an air conditioner may be more susceptible to everyday wear and tear. No matter the issue, it’s important to call our friendly, helpful customer service team for professional expertise from Dor-Mar Heating and Air Conditioning.
Here are some of the common repairs our specialists see during their A/C Repair visits.
A/C Compressor Issues
As mentioned earlier, the compressor performs the most important function of an air conditioner, pressurizing the refrigerant so that it can capture the heat inside and transfer it outside. This is the hardest-working component on the air conditioner, and runs constantly when the system is running. The complex compressor can have complex motor or electrical issues, as well as develop leaks, so an EPA certified technician is the only person who can legitimately perform any needed repairs.
A/C or Furnace Fan Problems
A home’s central air conditioner has two fans. First, the evaporator fan, also called the blower; and the condenser fan located in the outdoor unit. The condenser fan helps remove heat from the system, while the blower pushes the cool air into the ductwork of the home. Common fan problems that can develop are loose or bent fan blades, motor problems, or drive belt issues.
Freon or Puron Refrigerant Leaks
A home air conditioning system contains a system of tubing, called the lineset, that transports the refrigerant through the system. Because the lineset may be installed with multiple plumbing-like connections, it may develop leaks. In addition, linesets are made with malleable, soft metals like copper tubing and brass fittings, and can develop tiny holes when bent or rubbed repeatedly. The US EPS requires anyone handling refrigerant to be trained and certified to properly capture coolant. And since the contents of the system are pressurized, the A/C Service Technician must be properly trained to handle it. A/C Technicians from Dor-Mar Heating and Air Conditioning are well-trained, and re-trained, as well as certified, to properly deal with coolant issues on an air conditioning system.
